2. Getting Started

This section describes the system requirements of Felix, and how to install/uninstall the application.

2.1 System Requirements

The following are the system requirements for installing and running Felix.

Minimum System Requirements
  • Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher
  • 2 MB RAM
  • Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7 (32-bit or 64-bit)
Recommended System Requirements
  • Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher
  • 256 MB RAM
  • Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/7 (32-bit or 64-bit)
Other Requirements

The Felix interface works with Microsoft® Office 2003, XP, 2007, and 2010 (only 32-bit versions supported). Operation is not guaranteed with Office 2000.

2.2 Installation

The latest version of Felix can be downloaded from the Felix download page.

Once you have downloaded the latest version, double click on the installer, and follow the on-screen instructions.

We recommended that you exit all other programs before proceeding, including resident anti-virus programs.

Choosing Components

On the Select Components page of the installer, you can select to install the interfaces for MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (these are selected by default). This will enable you to use the Felix interface from these programs.

2.3 Uninstallation

The following instructions will walk you through the uninstallation process.

  1. Quit out of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint if they are running.
  2. From the Start menu, select Control Panel.
  3. Double click on the Add/Remove Programs or Add or Remove Programs icon.
  4. Select "Felix," then click Add/Remove or Change/Remove.
    The uninstall program launches. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the uninstallation.
