1. “One translation per source” option

There is now an option to only allow one translation per source segment. By default, Felix allows any number of translations for the same source segment.

When this feature is enabled, if you add a new translation for an existing source segment in the TM, the existing record will be replaced.

To enable this feature, go to Tools > Preferences, then click on the Memory tab, and select “One translation per source segment.”

Note: You should set this option before loading any TMs. If you change it after a TM is loaded, you could get unexpected results.

3. “Correct Translation” keyboard shortcut for Excel

There is now a “Correct Translation” keyboard shortcut option for Excel. To activate this option, go to the Felix menu in Excel, and select Preferences. Then select Keyboard Shortcuts,　and assign a keyboard shortcut for “Correct Translation”. The default is CTRL+ALT+UP.

4. Memory Manager: Give option to show old manager

Some users with older versions of Internet Explorer (typically corporate mandated) had problems using the features of the new Memory Manager window. There is now an option to use the old Memory Manager dialog: from the Preferences dialog (Tools >> Preferences), select the “Use old memory manager” checkbox.

5. Bug Fix: Broken css/javascript on Japanese Memory Manager window

On the Japanese version of the Memory Manager window, pages were not displayed properly due to broken CSS and JavaScript links.

6. Allow unlimited number of files in loaded history

You can now keep an unlimited number of files in the loaded history (used in the “Load previous memories/glossaires on next startup” option). The previous limit was 15 items each.

2. Translation memories and glossaries can be saved in tabbed text format

You can now save translation memories (TMs) and glossaries in tabbed-text format. For now, it’s not possible to select which fields are saved; it will be possible to select the fields (and whether a header row is output).

2. “Details” links for Felix matches

There are now “Details” links ([>>] in glossary windows) to view details about translation and glossary matches. Click a link to view information such as the date the record was created, who created it, and how many times it has been used.

3. Simple glossary view

You can now choose a streamlined glossary view, with only the minimum information displayed. This allows more matches to fit on the screen, and makes it easier to check glossary matches.

To toggle between full and simple view, select View >> Simple View.

4. Expanded COM API

The COM interface has been expanded considerably. Now it is possible to load and save TMs/glossaries, set TM/glossary properties, iterate through records, and more.

5. Default context

You can now set a default context entry for all new translations you add. To do so, go to the Memory Manager (Tools >> Memory Manager), and click “Edit” for the desired TM/glossary. Next, enter a context value and click Submit.

Note that default context values are for that TM/glossary only, and only apply for the current session. This will be improved in a future release.

There is now an option to delete all matching results in the Search Window. This is useful when you want to delete many entries at once. It is also useful for splitting TMs/glossaries: if you first save the search results to a separate TM, and then delete them from the current one, you have split your TM.

Customize Shortcuts

The keyboard shortcuts for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint can be customized. To customize keyboard shortcuts, from the Felix menu in Word, PowerPoint, or Excel, click on Felix Preferences, then click the Shortcuts… button.

The following dialog appears:

Click on a command in the top left window. The keyboard shortcuts for that command are shown in the top right window. In the bottom of the dialog, choose a key combo (ALT, CTRL, or CTRL+ALT), a key, and an optional second key, then click Assign to add that shortcut.

Customize Abbreviations

The list of abbreviations for Word and PowerPoint can be customized. This is a list of words that end in periods, which should not be considered the end of the sentence for segmentation (defaults include words like “Mr.” and “Ms.”). To customize the abbreviations list, from the Felix menu in Word, PowerPoint, or Excel, click on Felix Preferences. Next, click the Segmentation tab, and then click the Shortcuts… button.

The following dialog appears:

Edit the list of abbreviations, then click OK.

Bug Fix: > and & Characters in Excel

In some cases, the “>” symbol was getting changed into “>”, and the “&” symbol was getting changed into “&” in Excel.

  Prefix a string with the tag “regex:” to do regular-expression searching and replacing.
• Upload and merge TMs/glossaries
  You can now upload TMs and glossaries, and merge them with existing ones. To do so, go to the View page for the TM or glossary you want to merge with.
• Bug fix: Hiragana was sometimes not found on searches
• A warning appears if Memory Serves is run at localhost (usually means there is no network connection)
• On the global search page, each record in the results includes a link to the TM/glossary it belongs to

This release mainly includes improvements to the search page, additions to the automation interface, and some bug fixes. This is the last planned release before version 1.6, which will have an improved TM manager.
